4th Day of Christmas....

My true love gave to me a lovely Cranberry Cake Recipe.
You will love it. I promise. I took this one to all the school functions

when our daughter was in elementary school.
There was never a crumb left. I have to hide it if I want
a piece.

Enjoy !!

Cranberry Cake

3 eggs
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries, thawed
2/3 cup chopped pecans
Whipped cream, optional

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar, until slightly thickened and light in color, about 5 minutes. Add butter and extract; beat 2 minutes. Stir in flour just until combined. Stir in cranberries and pecans. Spread in greased 13-in.x 9-in.x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream if desired. Yield: 16-20 servings

Merry Christmas !!

Holiday shopping guide

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are almost upon us. This year the decisions you make with your hard-earned money will have more impact than ever before.

Here are a few ideas to consider:

1. Buy handmade items from the people who’s work you like.

2. If you have to buy gift cards buy from someone who’s work you like from the above suggestion.

3. Don't buy from big brands or big stores that don't care about you, or that act in ways you don't applaud. There are very smart alternatives in almost every category.

4. When in doubt for the man in your life buy digital items. Even better, give a donation and make many people happy.
Just a few thoughts on this. I am sure you can come up with more great ideas.

Something a little bit different

Ahhh, I woke up this morning and it's still cold. I love it and feel so rejuvenated.
I love to cook when the weather is like this but I always want something fast because there's so much I want to do. I thought I would share one of my favorite recipes with you. These are so yummy and easy to fix.

Enjoy.

Cheesy Chicken Bundles

2 cans(5 oz.)chunk chicken, drained and flaked
1 pkg.(3 oz.) cream cheese
4 green onions, chopped
1/2 t. black pepper
1 pkg. refrigerated crescent rolls
Preheat oven to 350*F.
Coat baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bow, combine chicken, cream cheese, green onions and black pepper; mix well.
Unroll crescent rolls and separate dough into 4 rectangles using perforations as guide. Gently press together the diagonal perforation that crosses each rectangle.
Place 1/4 of the chicken mixture in the center of each rectangle. Pull the 4 corners of each rectangle up to the center: wrapping the dough around the chicken mixture. pinch dough together just above the chicken mixture ,leaving the points of the dough free at the top. Place bundles on baking sheet and bake 20-25 minutes ,or until golden brown. Serve immediately.

**I don't use as much green onion and you can also cook your own chicken instead of using canned. These are really good the 2nd day reheated. I always make a double batch.

Fall Is Finally Here

So sorry I haven't posted since Ike. So much has been going on. Between home schooling our daughter and her friend to taking care of FIL I feel like a tornado has whipped through our house,LOL.

Fall has finally arrived in south Texas. I have been enjoying the weather so much. I love the cold and Christmas. Christmas is one of my favorite holiday's and I can't wait to start decorating. Glitter is everywhere. It's as close to a winter wonderland as I can get this deep in the south.

I have been busy. Here's a couple of things I've been working on. I've added several new items to the site so be sure to check. More is coming soon. Lot's of Christmas ornaments and pink pretties coming.

Here we go again....

This time we are running from hurricane Ike. It seems like just yesterday we were running from Rita. Actually it was 3 yrs. ago Sept. 25,2005. What a nightmare. Needless to say this time has had it's own problems. The biggest problem has been trying to get someone to transport my FIL out of harms way. We are waiting to be notified as to when EMS will come to pick him up and then we will follow them to San Antonio.

This is one of the hardest things a person has to do.... pack up and leave your home and not know if you will have somewhere to come back to. My heart goes out to all that are running from this storm. Please keep us all in your prayers.

God bless all and I will try to post as soon as I can.

Where has the time gone ?

Ever feel like when you take one step forward you go 3 steps backwards ?

That's how things have been going around here lately. At least life is never boring. I finally got the picture taken of the angel for the posting prize. And surprise.... I'm going to send and angel to all 3 ladies that posted before the contested end . Just give me time to get boxes and a chance to get them in the mail. Hopefully, that will happen this week.

I've been busy this week with all the home health care visitors but I'm hoping to get a few new things up on the site. Be sure to check your mailbox for a newsletter and a special back to school offering. If you haven't signed up for the mailing list now is the time to do it. I'm working as fast and furious as possible to get new Christmas items up.

Angels Amongst Us.. Contest

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Heb. 13: 2

There are several of you that have kept me in your prayers for the last several weeks. First for my FIL after his stroke and when we thought things couldn't get worse we found out tropical storm Edouardo was heading my way. Thank you so much for the prayers. They have been answered. The storm came in east of me and so far so good. No strong winds or flooding and ahhhh, the cool air is wonderful.

Once again my angels have surrounded me and mine.

I'm going to run a contest throught midnight tonight. Anyone that post to this message will be entered. Be sure to post your name and sign up for the mailing list so that I can contact you.

The prize is going to be one of my angel ornies. Not sure what it will look like yet. I'm still working on it but the picture is of one I've done before.

Happy posting.

The contest has ended and I will be posting a picture of the prize and the winner. Be sure to check back often This was fun. I think I might do it again some time soon.

24 Things To Never Forget‏

It's been a really rough 2 weeks and once again I haven't been able to post on here like I would like to. Life just seems to always be getting in the way.

Some of you know that I take care of my bedridden FIL. Well, he had stroke #4 and by the grace of God he survived but the roller coaster ride has not been any fun. Thank you so much to all of you that are saying prayers for me and my family. You will never know how much they are appreciated.

I got this in an email and thought I would share it with you :

24 Things (23 Things to Always Remember And One Thing Never to Forget)

1. Your presence is a present to the world.
2. You're unique and one of a kind.
3. Your life can be what you want it to be.
4. Take the days just one at a time.
5. Count your blessings, not your troubles.
6. You'll make it through whatever comes along.
7. Within you are so many answers.
8. Understand, have courage, be strong.
9. Don't put limits on yourself.
10. So many dreams are waiting to be realized.
11. Decisions are too important to leave to chance.
12. Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.
13. Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.
14. The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.
15. Don't take things too seriously.
16. Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.
17. Remember that a little love goes a long way.
18. Remember that a lot... goes forever.
19. Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
20. Life's treasures are people... together.
21. Realize that it's never too late.
22. Do ordinary things in extraordinary ways.
23. Have health and hope and happiness.
24. Take the time to wish upon a star. And don't ever forget... for even a day... how very special you are!

#'s 4 - 6 have been a great help to me this week. I hope this will be a blessing to you, too.

Have a great day whatever you do.
