I usually skip right past Father's Day. It's a sad day for me... my dad passed away on Father's Day 10 yrs. ago. I really do miss him, my granddaddy and Father- in-law. No,you never totally get over the loss but they are always in your heart and I know they are all in heaven waiting for us.

Easter Basket Swap Party

I joined Miss Rhea's Easter Basket Swap over at Sweet and Shabby's Roses blog spot. Each of us had 2 swap partners to make Easter baskets for. The object was to Recycle, Reuse, and Renew !! Each person used two empty yogurt cups and decorated them into mini baskets. We also sent 5 additional items to our partners.

Imagine my surprise when the packages arrived and I opened them. This is the beautiful basket that Stephanie at Rose Petals and Rust created and sent me. She is amazing. Isn't it gorgeous ? I so love the necklace she made and the adorable salt and pepper shakers and crocheted coaster are perfect to go with my pink depression glass table setting. She has much larger pictures over on her blog. Just click the link above.
Patricia over at Vintage Linen Treasures sent me this gorgeous pink basket with the pretty pink checked bow and vintage buttons. Boy, did she have me pegged with the pink. I love it !!!

Somehow she figured out that I love bunnies, pink and white. Who are we kidding ? Look around and you can tell,LOL. I just love the little bunny, the white cross, vintage buttons and Vintage Easter card she sent me. Of course you know how crazy I am about vintage anything. I am amazed at how she got the bow to twist and turn perfectly. I love it all !!!

On The Second Day of Christmas... My true Love Gave to me a birdhouse for the turtle doves that are freezing in this record Texas freeze. Yes, we had snow in Texas. Not for long and it didn't last but it was beautiful.

I know the doves will be nice and cozy in this one yr. round. Bet they can't wait for spring,LOL. So Romantic and glitzy with German Glass glitter covering the roof and Swarovski rhinestones added for some pinkalicious sparkle.

Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Spread

Mother Nature keeps playing tricks on Texas. One day it's hot the next it's an itsy bitsy bit cooler. Today I thought I would share one of my favorite fall recipes with you.

Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Spread

4 oz. cream cheese, softened

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1/4 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. In a small bowl, beat softened cream cheese, sugar, and syrup until creamy.

2. Add pumpkin, spices and vanilla and beat until smooth.

3. Refrigerate for at least an hour.

Yum,yum !! Enjoy this on bagels or muffins.

As most of you know I am computer challenged. Last Thurs.my site went down and I've had to change hosting services. Thinking everything was backed up.... guess what "not". So here I go again.... 1. I get up every morning and "Thank God" for the talent he has given me.

2. I love pink... like you didn't already know that.

3. Painting is my passion. I have painted as long as I can remember.

4. My hubby is the love of my life and no matter what junk I drag home he never complains.

4. I have one gorgous daughter. I dread the day I become an empty nester.

5. I love to garden and pink roses are my favorite... mother nature has not been as kind this yr. and the heat is killing us all.

6.I love all things Vintage and Victorian..especially china, linens,tea cups and tea pots.

7.I love to read. Hubby says I will read the side of a cereal box when there's nothing else around the house.

8.I hate the heat. I can't wait for winter.

9. Hunting for new treasures to paint on is another of my passions.

Remember the movie Parenthood with Steve Martin ? The grandmother said " life is like a roller coaster ... it has it's ups and downs. It goes round and round, up and down " or something to that effect. That's how it's been at my house for the last few weeks. Most of you know that I have taken care of my bedridden FIL for the last 4 + yrs. Sadly for us on July 18,2009 he left this earth to be with God and Grandmother. Happily for him he is no longer in pain or suffering. He is greatly missed by all. The house isn't the same. Thank you to all that have kept us in your prayers.

Friday Flea Market .... What did I see.

When I went to the flea market, what did I see?? Oh, there was so much it boggled me. A poet I am not. A treasure hunter I am, LOL. Imagine my excitement when I found this vintage shoe mold. Perfect for a door stop or use as a bookend.

Next came something old,something new,something borrowed...

You get the idea.

I love vintage fabrics,lace and

anything Victorian and Romantic and

have decided to add a bridal section to my website.

40% of worry will never happen, for anxiety is the result of a tired mind.

10% or worry is related to my health which worsens while I worry.
Only 8% of worry is "legitimate," showing that life does have real problems which may be met head-on when I have eliminated senseless worries.

$5.00 Challenge- Spring is in the air.

I love a challenge !! There is nothing like it to get your creative juices flowing. around my house I am known as the "Queen of Cheap" , ",ooooppp's, DD's says I am supposed to say "frugal". I'm also known as the "Queen Junk Collecter

The rules for the challenge are to create something with our own two hands using only products found at the dollar store combined with items we already had around our homes. Not a problem for this frugal mom.
Spring is in the air in Texas so of course birdhouses and Easter are foremost on my mind.

I couldn't stop at just one project. I am on a roll. So I did 3
projects using items I had around the house
with a few extra treasures I found
at where else but Dollar Tree.

These are the supplies I used for the eggs.
I started with little birdhouses (from the Dollar Tree),a candle stick holder (another Dollar Tree purchase ),a little bit of my favorite white primer ( I always have that on hand,can't live without it) and went to town. If any of you know me I love roses... and they have to be Pink and they show up on everything. The dog runs when he sees me coming.

I started out priming them with my favorite white primer/paint.

Next came the roses.

Once the painting was done the fun began.
The roofs are covered in my favorite glitter
(another house staple).

Only the finest will do.

Next came the glue gun...

and the stands (candle stick holders)
and organza bows were added.
Whalaa, they are done.

Now for the egg holder for the Easter Bunny
Everyone knows he can't lay that many eggs
Of course he has to shop at Kroger's,LOL.

Out came the primer... again.

Gotta love that stuff.

I started out priming the inside

and out of the egg carton and the eggs

with my favorite white

primer/paint.

Here they come ..... Yep, you guessed it.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

For all you chocolate lovers out there that don't want to eat an entire sheet cake,LOL. A friend sent this to me. She swears it works. I'm off to try it and will let you know.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Propagating Roses with Cuttings

I have a love hate relationship with gardening..... I love to see the roses bloom all summer.... I hate it that I forget to water or I leave the sprinkler on and forget it. I'm good at creating a small lake,LOL. Does anyone else do this or am I the only one with this problem ?

Hurricane Ike wrecked havoc with my plants last year. Yep, we still have things to remember from the experience 6 months later.

I wish I had thought to do this earlier but it's time to start with spring here in just a couple of days. It's so easy. I thought I would share it with you. It truly works.

Propagate Your Roses with Cuttings:

Choose healthy, leafy canes that are not too tough and about the diameter of a pencil. Using a sharp knife, cut off the soft tip of the cane and then cut it into 4- to 5-inch pieces. Each piece should have at least 2 nodes and some leaves. Strip off the bottom leaves to expose a node, then plant the cutting in moist soil and keep it in bright shade and high humidity. You can use containers covered with plastic bags, or set them in the ground in the shade and cover them with plastic jugs. You might try both methods. Take as many cuttings as you can to ensure success. Good luck!
